About The Bellmore Movies & Showplace

The Bellmore Movies & The Showplace was built in 1915 by a local family in Bellmore and was constructed by builder Anthony Palermo. Traditionally, movies back then were booked with a quick live vaudeville-style act before the film, which was the case for The Bellmore Movies as well.  From silent films with a piano player on the right side of the screen to talkies!! Theaters in surrounding towns have come and gone, but our little single-screen cinema survives! We can brag we have survived 2 Pandemics!  The Spanish Flu of 1918 and now the horrible COVID-19.

Today, Bellmore Movies & The Showplace offers Mainstream and independent Films and Live Shows, ranging from Plays to Comedy acts to concerts, film festivals, and almost anything else you can think of. The Bellmore Movies & Showplace remains the last single screen in Nassau County as an ongoing business.

The Stampfel Family took over the cinema's operations in March 1986 and looks forward to continuing for the next 100 Years!

Our admission prices are at the affordable ticket price of $10.00 for Adults, $8.00 for Senior Citizens over the age of 62, and $8.00 for Children under the age of 12.

Here at the Bellmore Movies & Showplace, we strive to provide a safe environment where everyone can see the movies they love. We adhere strictly to the guidelines below, and if we suspect these guidelines are not being followed, we may require proof of age or deny entry to films.

MPA guideline for R-rated Movies: Under 17 Requires Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian.

This rating means the film may contain adult material such as adult activity, harsh language, intense graphic violence, drug abuse and nudity.

  • An adult guardian is defined as a legal guardian 21 years of age or older that is responsible for the minor during the time of the R-rated movie
  • You must be 17 years or older to purchase a ticket for an R-rated movie.
  • You must be 21 years old or older to purchase tickets to an R-rated movie for others.
  • Anyone under 17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 21 years old or older throughout the entire movie.
  • Anyone with a pre-sale/online sale ticket for an R-rated movie may be asked to show I.D. before admittance.

PG – Parental Guidance strongly encouraged and suggested.

R – Restricted
These films contain adult material; parents are urged to learn more about the film before taking their children to see it. Strong language, violence, sex, and drug use may be present, or the movie’s general theme may be inappropriate for younger moviegoers. Regal does not permit entry to any person under the age of 6 to R-rated movies. Further, persons between the ages of 6 and 16 will only be permitted entry when accompanied by a person over the age of 21. Note: Admission policies may vary by location due to state or local ordinances. Contact your local theatre if you have questions regarding any state or local requirements.

NC-17 – No One 17 and Under Admitted
Signifies that the rating board believes that most American parents would feel that the film is patently adult and that children age 17 and under should not be admitted to it. Only persons age 18 years and over will be permitted. The film may contain explicit sex scenes, an accumulation of sexually-oriented language, and/or scenes of excessive violence. The NC-17 designation does not, however, signify that the rated film is obscene or pornographic in terms of sex, language or violence.

We request that every parent or guardian help us to have a safe happy environment when visiting us!!
